Digital Presence Guide 8 of 8
Creating a Strong About Us Page
Before strangers pay on UPI, they want to know who is behind the link. A clear About Us page answers that in one visit — without a corporate speech.
Quick answer
Write your About Us page in five blocks: who you help, why you started, how you work (city, delivery, hours), proof (photos, reviews, years or orders), and one clear next step (WhatsApp, call, or browse the store). Keep it human, specific, and mobile-scannable — not a company brochure.
Why buyers open About before they pay
A customer in Indore likes your Instagram reel, taps the bio link, and almost orders. Then a doubt appears: Is this a real person? Where are they based? What if something goes wrong?
The About Us page is where that doubt gets answered. It is not a place to dump your life story. It is a trust page with a short path from "Who is this?" to "Okay, I'll message them."
If your store is new, this page matters even more than for established brands — you have fewer reviews to lean on.
The 5-block outline that always works
Write in this order. You can expand later; do not skip blocks.
Block 1
Who you help
Block 2
Why you started
Block 3
How you work
Block 4
Proof
Block 5
Clear CTA
1. Who you help
One or two sentences naming the customer and the outcome. Example: "We help busy families in Lucknow get homemade tiffin delivered before 1 PM." Specific beats "we offer quality products."
2. Why you started
A short, true origin — not a TED talk. "Started from our home kitchen in 2023 after neighbors kept asking for extras" is enough. Skip invented mission statements.
3. How you work
City or delivery areas, order process, typical turnaround, languages you support, and when you reply on WhatsApp. This is the practical trust layer.
4. Proof
Photos, years in business, number of orders if real, Google reviews, or a short customer quote with permission. Link to policies if you have them.
5. Clear CTA
One primary action: WhatsApp, call, or browse the catalogue. Secondary can be "View products." Do not offer five equal buttons.
Next step: draft the five blocks in a note, then paste them into your free online store About section. Strengthen trust signals with how to build trust online.
Write like you chat on WhatsApp
If you would never say "leveraging synergies" to a customer, do not write it on the About page. Use the same words you use in replies.
- •Prefer "you" and "we" over "the company."
- •Name your city and neighborhoods when relevant.
- •Keep paragraphs to two or three lines for phone reading.
- •If you serve in Hindi, include at least a short Hindi welcome line.
For service businesses, pair this page with strong service pages. For product sellers, make sure listings follow product description habits so About and catalogue feel like one brand.
Proof and photos that belong on About
Face + workspace
You at the counter, kitchen, or desk — not a random stock smile.
Process proof
Packed orders, tools, certificates, or FSSAI/GST details if you share them.
Customer voice
One short quote or screenshot with permission beats ten empty stars.
Shoot these with the same habits as business photography — daylight, clean background, honest color.
End with one next step customers can take now
After the story, do not leave people hanging. Tell them exactly what to do:
- •"Message us on WhatsApp for today's menu."
- •"Browse the catalogue and place your first order."
- •"Book a free 10-minute call for custom stitching."
Match the CTA to how you already sell. If 90% of orders start on WhatsApp, make WhatsApp the primary button.
Three About Us angles that feel real
Home business
Kitchen-to-customers story
Name the city, the specialty, and how orders close each evening. Photo of the cook and packed boxes. CTA: WhatsApp today's slots.
Local shop going online
Counter + catalogue
"Serving [area] since [year]" with a storefront photo. Explain COD and pickup options. CTA: browse store or visit the shop.
Freelancer / coach
Credentials + who you coach
Who you help, your background in one short paragraph, and a sample result. CTA: book a discovery call or view packages.
About Us mistakes that weaken trust
Only talking about yourself
Lead with who you help and the outcome they get.
No city or contact
Hidden location and phone make buyers assume the worst.
Stock-only imagery
Fake teams photograph poorly against a real WhatsApp chat.
No CTA at the end
A nice story without a next step wastes the visit.
